1967 Shelby GT500 revived

MANILA: The 1967 Ford Shelby GT500 Super Snake has now been revived. This legendary car of older times has been recently reintroduced at a press event held at the Carroll Shelby International in Gardena, California. The new Shelby Super Snake will make use of donor Fastback Mustangs and will come with Shelby serial number.

The CEO of Shelby American, Joe Conway, said, “Shelby lineup for America today is the most diverse in our 56-year history. From high-tech modern muscle to off-road super trucks, track day thrill rides and heritage cars like the 1967 Shelby GT500 Super Snake, we offer something for everyone who wants to be best in class.”

The new Super Snakes are built from the original 1967 Mustangs with factory VINs and original titles. In order to maintain the car’s performance, strict standards have been set and these standards are being followed rigorously. Each car is stripped to bare metal and only then the transformation of GT500 Super Snake begins. In addition, customers are enabled with an option to buy an original donor period Shelby Fastback for their classic GT500 Super Snake.

A lot of similarities have been observed between the original muscle car and the new Super Snake. Like the original muscle car, this newly redesigned car comes with a 427 cubic inch (7.0-litre) racing-inspired V8 engine. The engine is said to produce more than 550 PS and is currently available in both aluminum and cast-iron blocks. This car comes with a four-speed manual sole transmission. Another similarity between the original Shelby and the new GT500 Super Snake is the presence of front disc brakes, the signature triple racing stripes and a redesigned front grille for better engine cooling.

The redesigned version of the classic 1967 Shelby GT500 Super Snake is going to be a new-age muscle car with its core similar to the original Shelby. Just ten units of this newly revived Ford car will be made. Each car will cost $249,995 (about Php 13.1 million).
