2017 Ford EcoSport enters Asia-Pacific market

MANILA: The much-awaited crossover from the American automaker has finally made its way to the Asia-Pacific market. Yes, 2017 Ford EcoSport has been revealed at an event in Shanghai, China. With 2017 EcoSport entering the Asian market, its launch in the Philippines can be expected soon. The crossover will be also displayed at the upcoming Auto Shanghai Motor Show.

Just like the American spec model, the 2017 Ecosport features a restyled front end. A larger trapezoidal grille, reshaped headlights, and foglights make the front. For a muscular appearance, the sculpted hood now has a wider central dome. The headlights are now accompanied with LED DRLs which is a part of most of the latest launches.

The 2017 Ford Ecosport is not only refreshed from the outside but, the interior has also received a touch of refreshment. The cabin is now more spacious, and at the center, a new 8-inch touchscreen display is equipped which now takes care of some of the controls of the car. The rest of the functions are handled by knobs and buttons. The designers have now placed wider and bold controls in the cabin that can be operated while wearing gloves as well.

The use of premium and soft-touch material shifts the focus of EcoSport from being a rugged ride to a more plush experience for the occupants. There are new storage compartments in the crossover while there is also a place for bottled drinks, sunglasses and umbrellas. The rear seat fold flat in 60/40, which results in improved cargo volume. The new EcoSport also features Ford’ in-car infotainment system, and SYNC 3, which takes care of entertainment and navigational needs of the occupants in an effective manner.

Under the hood, the 2017 Ford EcoSport is powered by a choice of 3 gasoline engines which include a 2.0-litre Duratec direct-injection, 1.0-litre EcoBoost 3-cylinder, and an all-new 1.5-litre Ti-VCT, which is small, light and strong along with fuel efficient. The option of all-wheel drive is also available in higher variants. The launch date of 2017 Ford EcoSport is not confirmed by Ford Philippines yet but, we expect it to take place somewhere in the middle of this year.
