2017 Suzuki Dzire revealed

MANILA: In order to make a strong position in the B-segment sedan segment, the Japanese automaker, Suzuki has updated its prominent model in the segment. Yes, the much-awaited 2017 Suzuki Dzire has been revealed and it comes with significant exterior and interior changes. The manufacturer has not restricted itself to styling changes but, it has also tweaked the name a bit, now the B-segment sedan comes with a Suzuki Dzire badging.

At the front, the hexagonal grille is quite similar to that found on the 2017 Swift but, the front bumper makes the real difference. The unique flair of fog light housings and larger air intakes give a bold look to the sedan while the headlights are kept similar to the 2017 Swift. The side profile is different from the hatchback sibling and at the rear, it gets a short trunk and upswept tail lights.

There are significant changes done in the cabin as well. The dash is much more driver oriented with rectangular cues and the top-spec model is bestowed with a 7-inch touch screen with multimedia, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and smartphone mirror link functionalities. A rear AC vent is also made standard across all the variants in the 2017 Dzire while the other features are taken from the updated Swift.

Under the hood, there are two engine options which include 1.2-litre K-Series gasoline engine and 1.3-litre DDiS turbo diesel engine. Transmission duties are handled by either a five-speed manual or an automated manual transmission. Though these engine options are for the Indian market, the same can be offered in some other markets. For the Philippines market, there is no information about the B-segment sedan and when it will land in our market. We hope to see this car soon in the market.

When launched, the 2017 Suzuki Dzire will be locking its horns against Honda Amaze and Chevrolet Sail. Let’s see how the updated B-segment sedan performs across different markets.
