2018 Isuzu I-1 Grand Prix clinched by the team Philippines
MANILA: At Isuzu I-1 Grand Prix World Technical Competition which was held, earlier this month, on the 6th of December, team Philippines came out on top with flying colors. The lads from the Philippines grabbed the top spot in Category B: Euro 4 and below Emission Class Regulation. This achievement once again proves that the servicing and technical abilities of Filipinos are way ahead than the competition.
In the quest of finding the Isuzu’s number one (“I-1”) in service skills and automotive knowledge, the I-1 Grand Prix World Technical Competition invites technicians from different Isuzu operations and subsidiaries across the world. The competition was then held in two categories namely LCV Division and CV Division. Isuzu Philippines stood 4th in the LCV Division which took place in September 2018. Category A: Euro 6 Emission Class Regulation and Category B: Euro 4 and below Emission Class Regulation are the two subdivisions of the CV category.
The team Isuzu Philippines which featured technicians and Isuzu TESDA graduates included the likes of Jusua B. Cantre from Isuzu Bulacan, Khent John Q. Ventura from Isuzu Cavite, and Gian Franco R. Cosico from IPC, who was the coach of the team. In winning the Category B, Euro 4 and below Emission Class Regulation, the Filipino folks outclassed 70 participants from 35 different countries. The team Philippines has been a consistent performer in the competition and has clinched one of the top 5 spots every year since 2013. 3rd in the CV Division Category B in 2013, 2nd in 2014, 1st in 2015, 3rd in 2016, and 5th in 2017 have been the recent scorecards of the team. The amazing results have been due to the stiff competition at IPC's annual Isuzu Service Skills Olympics (ISSO).
“Team Pilipinas' inspiring performance at the recent Isuzu I-1 Grand Prix World Technical Competition serves to reinforce IPC's reputation as a world-class workforce. Our teams have been consistent winners since 2013, and though there is always room to be even better than before, it cannot be denied that the training our technicians receive, combined with their dedication to their chosen craft, has made Team Pilipinas, and IPC, the standard bearers in the world stage. At the same time, I am also very happy that our teams' achievements in this competition in the past years have served to inspire members of our dealership network in the Philippines to strive to be the best in their own capacities”, said IPC President Hajime Koso while congratulating the team on its terrific display of skills.
