2018 Mazda6 teaser images released ahead of its official debut

MANILA: 2017 Los Angeles Motor Show is heading close and most of the manufacturers are gearing up for it. Mazda is also gearing up for the show and has given a sneak peek of what it is planning to showcase at the show. Yes, the Japanese automaker has released the teaser images of 2018 Mazda6, reflecting minor updates in the model. The exterior looks sharp over the outgoing model while there are a couple of tech upgrades that the manufacturer has implemented.

The teaser image reflects a lean front profile, thanks to the restyled headlights that are sleek as well as sharp. Further accentuating the design is a new front grille along with reshaped front bumper and lower air intake. The character lines on the side are kept intact with an addition of a new set of alloy wheels.

In the cabin, the manufacturer has adopted a simpler yet futuristic approach, leading to a neatly designed dashboard with appropriately placed controls within driver’s reach. The other changes include new aircon vents, refreshed climate control system and an upgraded infotainment system. In terms of safety, the new Mazda6 features i-ActivSense, a new 360-degree surround-view monitor system and Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) that acts as the car’s adaptive cruise control.

Under the hood, there will be two options for the 2018 Mazda6. The first is the 2.5-litre SkyActiv gasoline inline-four cylinder engine whose power and torque figures are yet not declared by the manufacturer. The second is the turbocharged version of the same unit which is also a part of the CX-9 lineup. The turbocharged version is expected to deliver a maximum power output of 230 PS and peak torque of 420 Nm.

The all-new Mazda6 will be staged from December 1 to December 10 at the Los Angeles Auto Show and will be available in the Australian market by March 2018, followed by other markets later.
