2018 Mazda CX-8 teaser confirms six-seat configuration

MANILA: The Japanese automaker is working on to enhance its lineup for a while now and we already know about the upcoming CX-4, which will be positioned between CX-3 and CX-5. Another model, which will be included in the Mazda’s lineup will be CX-8 whose teaser image has been released recently.

Though the SUV will be first introduced in the home market but, it is expected that the new model will also grace other markets. The all-new Mazda CX-8 is expected to be launched by the end of this year. According to Masamichi Kogai, Mazda’s Representative Director, President, and CEO, CX-8 will be for the ones who appreciate the quality and need a car that can accommodate more than five.

The recent teaser image of the upcoming Mazda CX-8 reflects the six-seater version of the car. According to the interior image revealed by the company, the seats are fully covered in leather upholstery giving a plush feel. In the six-seater variant, the middle row also gets individual cup holders with own center console box. The wheelbase of the CX-8 measures 2,930 mm which is similar to CX-9. However, the crossover is 175mm short than the flagship model and stands at 4,900 mm. The SUV will be 1840 mm wide and 1730 mm in height.

Under the hood, it is expected to feature a 2.2-litre SKYACTIV-D turbodiesel engine which is coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine will be capable of delivering 150/173 hp maximum power and 380/ 420 Nm peak torque depending on the tuning of the engine.
