2019 Hyundai Accent might arrive soon

MANILA: The new Hyundai Accent, a compact sedan that made its debut worldwide in February 2017 has been highly awaited by the ASEAN crowd. However, the South Korean automaker has not shown any interest to bring the 5th-generation of the Accent to the ASEAN markets yet. The arrival of the new B-segment sedan replacing the old Accent will certainly give birth to competition among cars like Honda City, Toyota Vios, Mazda 2 Sedan, and others.

At the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2018, which runs from 23 November to 2 December, the 2019 Hyundai Accent has been put for display by the manufacturer. The officials from Hyundai have been quiet about the arrival of the new Accent in the region for quite long now. But now with the previewing of the sedan at the auto show in Malaysia, we might have our hands on the car very soon. The B-segment sedan will also be displayed at the Thailand International Motor Expo from 29 November to 10 December.

The car up for the preview resembles the Indian-spec Verna, which is also sold in other markets as the Solaris. The looks, which include upswept headlamps, fog lamps and front grille with chrome accents mimic the designing of the C-segment Elantra. Featuring a wheelbase that measures 2,580 mm, the 2019 Accent stands 1,450 mm tall with the height and width being 4,385 mm and 1,729 mm, respectively. The 2019 Hyundai Accent also packs in 16-inch alloys, a 3.5-inch TFT LCD integrated into the instrument cluster, keyless entry and start, a rearview camera with front and rear parking sensors, leather upholstery, and much more.

Powering the previewed model is a 1.4-litre Kappa MPI 4-pot petrol-fed motor capable of pumping out 100 PS of max power at 6,000 rpm and a peak torque of 132 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Sending power to the front wheels is a 6-speed automatic unit. 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, cruise control, hill start assist and other safety features are also present on the 2019 Hyundai Accent.
