2019 Toyota Camry to arrive in the Philippines soon

MANILA: After its Thai debut, 2019 Camry is all geared up to arrive in the Philippines as announced recently by Toyota Motor Philippines on their official Facebook page. No word has been given yet regarding its exact launch date, but it is certain that it'll happen pretty soon.

Toyota Camry, in its latest avatar, is already available in several countries. And now Filipinos need not to exercise their patience for long especially after the recent 2019 Camry related announcement from Toyota Philippines.

No information is available regarding the Philippine-bound Camry’s engine or any other vital specifications. Moreover, the information regarding the specific Toyota Camry variant brought to the country is also not available. However, it makes total sense to expect the ASEAN-spec model.

In the USA, buyers get two powertrain options that include a 2.5-litre inline-four and a 3.5-litre V6 unit. In the Thai-spec model, buyers enjoy more freedom as the Camry is launched there with four engine options. The entry-level model gets a 2.0-litre engine mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, followed by the slightly more robust 2.5-litre unit, paired with an 8-speed automatic one. The other two are hybrid variant combining a 2.5-litre engine and an electric powertrain, coupled with a CVT unit.

From the external appearance point of view, all the three ASEAN, the US, and Japan-spec variants look almost identical. The exception, however, lies in the fact that the one we are about to welcome might not flaunt a sporty model. It is highly likely that the Philippines too will get the new Camry in its standard variant without the bold looking wheels and bumpers.

One can expect the 2019 Toyota Camry to finally reach the shores of the Philippines in December 2018 or January 2019. The favourable tax breaks in the TRAIN law gives the hope that the hybrid model might also be available at the top spec trim.
