2020 Ford Ranger FX4: What to expect?
It looks like Ford Philippines is beefing up its Ranger portfolio in the local scene as it confirms the much-awaited arrival of the upgraded FX4 model on the 23rd of January.
Amidst the anticipation of car lovers across the country for almost a year, it was really exciting that Ford will finally unveil the 2020 version of their Ford Ranger FX4 in the Philippines this week.
Known for its all-terrain prowess and off-road durability, the FX4 models were initially introduced in 2002 as the flagship model of the Ford Ranger mid-size pickup truck series. It dons a sporty and aggressive aura that signifies its rank among the toughest competitors like Isuzu D-Max, Mitsubishi Strada, and Toyota Hilux. Aside from the powerful engine, the 5-seater pickup truck boasts a good cargo capacity and technical specifications that is good enough to provide powerful driving performance with style and comfort.
Alongside FX4, Ford Philippines will still be offering XLS, XLT, Turbo Wildtrak, and Bi-Turbo Wildtrak trims. Some of these trims have both manual and automatic transmissions as well.
Given the excitement about the upcoming launch of the FX4, here are some of the details that we have so far which can definitely make you feel more hyped about this amazing car:
What we know so far?
Various visuals have been circulating around already and it’s pretty obvious that the upcoming FX4 variant is almost similar to the one that was introduced in Thailand late last year.
By just looking at the images, Ford got rid of the two bars carrying the company nameplate in the centermost grille. It was replaced by a sleeker and stylish grille that has the brand name at the center and some honeycomb design on both sides. It is also apparent that front and rear bumpers were revamped so it forms a more aggressive outlook just like in XLT trims. A portion of the car’s apron has been blacked out as well and various FX4 decals can be seen on the doors, front, and rear.
It is also not a secret that the 17-inches standard wheel size for XLT has been upgraded into an 265/60 18-inch alloy with gloss black finish that accentuates its rugged and daunting aura. There is also a metal sports bar in the package which adds to the sportiness of the car as well as the toughness of its whole identity.
With minimal specifications at hand, the 2020 Ranger FX4 is expected to be equipped with a 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi turbo diesel engine and shifts gears through a six-speed conventional automatic gearbox. It can fire up to 160 hp at 3,200 rpm and 385 Nm of peak torque at 1,600 to 2,500 rpm.
Since the 2020 FX4 is pretty close to being the same with the Thailand market version, we can only assume that the 2020 model for the Philippines will share some attributes to its counterpart.
Among the other possible features that can be found in the 2020 Ford Ranger FX4 are the six-piece speakers and the capacitive touch screen display powered by SYNC 3 infotainment system. Through this, you can definitely connect your mobile phones whether you’re an iPhone or Android mobile user as it is also compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
A 4.2-inch color multi-info display is also something that the automakers may consider putting in the Philippine version of the car. In addition, the four-wave powered front passenger and six-way power driver’s seat which are also great perks. There’s also a big possibility that the 2020 Ranger FX4 will have electrically foldable side mirrors and leather-wrapped steering wheel.
