2020 Honda City spied in Thailand
MANILA: After updating its high-end vehicles like the Civic, Accord, CR-V, and others in order to stay in contention with the changing times, Honda is now shifting its focus to its mass-market cars like Jazz and City.
The all-new Jazz is already known to be unveiled at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show later this year in the month of October. But that’s not all as we have also seen some information revealing spy-shots of the revisited hatch in recent past. With still three months to go for the Tokyo Motor Show, the 2020 Honda City has been spotted in Thailand, where the sedan is actually built.
Looking at the photographs of the pre-production unit of the all-new Honda City, we find the updated sedan to feature a thick grille slat and upswept headlights, both of which provide the City with an appearance similar to its elder sibling, Civic. Another change on the outside is the position of the ORVMS,
which now reside on the doors. Moving to the rear end of the sedan, we see a new pair of taillights which are of the wrap-around kind. The similarities with the Civic are less prominent at the rear with the rear windshield not particularly featuring a coupe-like look.
With no photographs available of the interior, we shouldn’t be speculation anything here and wait for more snaps to come out. Speaking of the stuff under the hood, the new Honda City is expected to come housing a 1.0-litre turbocharged mill that is found on the European-spec Civic.
This mill makes 129 PS and 200 Nm. We also expect the current 1.5-litre engine to continue providing the sedan ample power. However, Honda should be making some tweaks on this motor in order to improve both refinement and fuel efficiency.
The first set of spy shots of the all-new Honda City is a clear indication of the updated sedan making more and more headlines in the coming times. With the revisited Jazz set to come out in flesh in a matter of three months, are going to see the new City alongside the Jazz at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show?
We hope we do, what do you think? By the way, do you own a Honda CR-V? In case you do, Honda has announced a global recall for around 137,000 units of the SUV due to a faulty airbag component, know more about the recall here.
