All-new 2019 Toyota Camry officially launched in Thailand
MANILA: The all-new eighth-generation Toyota Camry midsize sedan has made its official ASEAN debut with its launch in Thailand on the 29th of October, 2018. Hence, it is likely to hit the Philippines shores really soon.
This midsize sedan, by the Japanese automaker, comes in 4 variants. The G variant is the entry-level model that draws its power from a 2.0-litre powertrain, generating a maximum power of 167 PS and 199 Nm of torque. The second line is the V variant with a 2.5-litre mill that offers an output reading of 209 PS of peak power and a maximum of 250 Nm torque. The remaining models are the hybrid variants, in which the addition of electric motors has enabled the models to produce a maximum combined power of 211 PS. All three engines feature different types of transmissions, where the top ranging one has CVT, 2.0G consist of a six-speed automatic, and the 2.5G is mated with an eight-speed automatic.
The new Camry happens to be the second car in Thailand that is underpinned by TNGA-K platform. From the appearance point of view, this ASEAN-spec Toyota Camry resembles its North American and Japanese models to a significant extent. The lack of athletic-oriented model is what differs this ASEAN-spec vehicle from the models sold in western countries. The model launched here features a massive lower grille, a sculpted roofline, LED daytime running lights, LED projector headlights, curvy character lines sloping upward from front to rear, and chrome-plated door handles.
Inside, the car looks elegant with leather upholstery, power seats, and a spacious cabin. All the four Toyota Camry variants launched in Thailand come equipped with remote keyless entry, wireless charging facility, and an advanced multi-information digital display. Only the top variants come with ventilated seats, triple-zone climate control system, head-up display, power seat with lumbar support, and the premium JBL sound system.
The introduction schedule of the 2019 Camry in the Philippines is not confirmed yet but is likely to be here soon, without any doubt. The 2.5G and the hybrid models are more likely to be available in the country.
