All-new Jaecoo J5 EV to launch on July 22

MANILA: Omoda and Jaecoo Philippines are scheduled to launch the all-new J5 electric vehicle (EV) tomorrow (July 22, 2026). 

As it enters the Philippine market, the sister brands have reported that the Jaecoo J5 EV has risen as the best-selling pure EV in both Thailand and Indonesia - setting a precedent that the nameplate has the potential to be a strong contender in the local market. 

Moreover, Jaecoo and Omoda also highlighted the J5 EV’s capabilities, specifically its New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) range of 461 kilometers (km). The aforementioned was already validated by the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP), citing a “real-world achievement” of 117 percent (539.2 km) over its NEDC range.

Vehicle specifications

Apart from its range, the Jaecoo J5 EV features a single electric motor setup that’s linked to a 58.9-kilowatt-hour battery. The said powertrain can produce up to 208 horsepower and 288 Newton-meters of torque. 

When it comes to charging, the Jaecoo J5 EV uses a CCS2 and a Type 2 port. It also has a maximum fast-charging rate of 130 kilowatts when using its direct current (DC) port, which results in a charge time of 30-80 percent in 28 minutes. 

When it comes to size, the J5 EV has the following measurements:

Some notable exterior equipment available to the Jaecoo J5 EV includes roof rails, a power tailgate, a panoramic sunroof, active aerodynamics, LED lighting fixtures, 18-inch alloy wheels, and power-folding/adjustable side mirrors - among others. 

Inside the model is a five-seater layout equipped with leather upholstery, automatic climate controls, ventilated front seats, and fold-flat rear seats. The model is likewise capable of storing up to 480-liters of cargo, with the rear seats in use. 

Other noteworthy interior equipment of the J5 EV includes, but is not limited to:

• 13.2-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Eight-piece Sony speaker set
• Eight-inch digital gauge
• Electronic parking brake
• Power-adjustability for front seats
• Anti-glare rearview mirror
• Ambient lighting system

The Jaecoo J5 EV’s primary safety kit is a suite of advanced driving assist systems, which include adaptive cruise control, integrated cruise assist, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, traffic jam assist, emergency lane-keep assist, active speed limiter, and multi-collision braking. 

At launch, the Jaecoo J5 EV will retail with an introductory price of P1.4 million. This goes together with a seven-year or 200,000-km bumper-to-bumper warranty and an eight-year or 160,000-km battery and electric motor warranty.
