All-new SsangYong Rexton- Official Reveal in Paris

MANILA: The wait is over for automaniacs as the South Korean manufacturer is all set to reveal an exclusive Rexton for the very first time on the global stage. Yes, you heard that right, an all-new Rexton is coming. After making a re-entry on the Philippines turf a couple of months back, the South Korean brand is ready to fantasize Filipinos with a brand new Rexton. This year’s Paris Motor Show will witness the new Rexton gracing up the stage.

Codenamed as Y400 and adorning an exclusive design language, the new Rexton will spice up the show for sure as this was awaited for 15 long years. Although, the company has blessed it with several minor upgradations but a complete makeover was still awaited.

Talking about the technical specs, the next-gen Rexton will feature two powermill options under the hood, both being turbocharged, Euro 5 diesel and Euro 6 diesel. Mingled to a six-speed manual transmission and an eight-speed automatic gearbox, the former will feature a 2.0-litre engine that can churn out a max power of 155 PS and a peak torque of 360 Nm while the latter Euro 6 will underpin a 2.2-litre engine capable of pumping out a max power of 178 PS and a peak torque of 400 Nm. RWD and FWD systems will be on offer once it makes way to the market.

Aesthetically, it will be ravishing for sure as it will be a reflection of the concept car named LIV-1 revealed back in 2013 at the Seoul Motor Show. Based on the concept, it will feature high wraparound headlamp clusters, trademark hexagonal grille and LED fog lamps in addition to the pronounced character lines that can be seen along its side profile, bumpers and the hood. A kicked-up third window design looks a little uncanny while the bulged out rear gate grants it a wider and bulkier stance. The rear end sports a pair of wrap-around tail lamps, rear spoiler and an authoritative bumper with optimum chrome garnishing.

The seven-seater Rexton will feature a plush cabin with chrome treatments and wood accents here and there. While the seats will be offered in leather and fabric options. A large touchscreen would serve the purpose of an exclusive infotainment system while a TFT display at instrument panel would further provide a gracious look to the Rexton’s cabin.
