All-new Volkswagen Touareg won’t make it to the Philippines market

MANILA: It was only in March 2018 that Volkswagen held the grand premiere of the all-new Touareg in China. This news excited auto markets around the world including the Philippines, as Touareg holds a decent sales record in the country. However, back then the German auto company didn’t give any info about its global availability. Something that kept us hanging for long, as to whether or not Filipinos will enjoy the new VW SUV.

Volkswagen Philippines, Marketing Director, Franz Decloedt cleared the matter to a significant extent saying that “If we brought in the all-new Touareg, the price would be so high that it will end up directly competing with most luxurious SUVs from other brands in terms of price.” He further stated that there’s no doubt that the next-generation Touareg high price tag is justified by its premium features and post the discontinuation of the Phaeton saloon it is the most luxurious car. However, if introduced in the country, the car will have a hard time struggling with the large, lavish, and high-end SUVs from other top brands.

In short, the all-new Touareg won’t be a part of the VW Philippines lineup because of its high pricing. If introduced in the Philippines the new Touareg would tally the costing of the likes of Porsche Cayenne and Audi Q7.

A glimpse of what we’ll be missing -

• The gen-next Touareg follows a new design language and displays a stable stance with extensive chrome and vertical work on the grille and bumper.

• The cabin gets an airliner’s glass cockpit with a massive 15-inch infotainment system with Dynaudio sound system, and 12-inch information binnacle.
• The vertical theme follows continues inside with lined air-con panels and flat-bottomed steering wheel.
• Its safety kit includes features like Night Vision Assist system, Active All-Wheel Steering, and Front Cross Traffic Alert.

With all the impressive inclusions the price of new Touareg is sure to hike compared to the previous model. Although, if you truly love and want to own this vehicle there is a chance it can happen. According to VW Philippines executive, the car can be imported if a client passes a firm order, given that the same gets approved by Volkswagen AG.
