Aston Martin to reveal its first SUV in China
MANILA: China is one of the largest automobile markets in the world. This tremendous growth has not only attracted major automotive brands to enter the Chinese market with their flagship models, but also to create specific models to suit the Chinese ecosystem. It is because of this rapid expansion and increasing demands that have convinced Aston Martin to develop an SUV.
This new SUV from Aston Martin is expected to be based on the DBX concept. Speaking about the same, Andy Palmer, President, and CEO, Aston Martin said, “The DBX SUV exists because of the booming China market. If there was no demand from China, then Aston Martin probably wouldn't have done an SUV at all.”
China has become the center of attraction to all the big players in this giant automobile world. The 2018 Beijing Auto Show was where Mercedes-Benz revealed its A-Class L Sedan, BMW unveiled the M2 Competition, and Lexus showcased the new ES. The huge show also witnessed Audi launch the extended-wheelbase Q5 LWB exclusively for the Chinese markets.
Just like the other brands, Aston Martin, too, was paying close attention to the Chinese market. It has already announced a partnership with The College of Design and Innovation at Shanghai's Tongji University as customization is one of the top priorities for the British car maker.
Well, this is good news for the automobile enthusiasts; SUV enthusiasts, to be precise. After Lamborghini launched its Urus to enter the SUV market, and Rolls-Royce brought its brand-new Cullinan, to compete in the segment, it is now Aston Martin who will get its DBX inspired SUV out to increase the competition.
Aston Martin is planning to launch its SUV sometime during the end of 2019. Of course, China will be the first country to get the SUV. It is because of China the DBX SUV would even exist, so that is a fair deal. The rest of the world would start receiving the vehicle from early 2020. Aston Martin estimates that it should get at least one-third of its global sales to emerge out from China.
