BMW X1 May Receive M-Class and Hybrid Treatment
MANILA: BMW is known for its new and innovative creations, and has always catered a large number of customers with varied car interests. BMW's widely popular M-series which is its performance car division, always catches eye of the speed lovers, while the X-series as its SUV segment is for the urban commute. Now, what do you think of a car with a BMW badge, which is a combination of its X series and M series? Sounds great isn't it!
Well there have been speculations in the automobile market that in the near feature, there is a rare possibility that a car will be a fusion of two afore mentioned series. Though, there is no official confirmation form BMW, but a source close to X1's powertrain development team was quoted saying that “There’s certainly a place for this [in the line-up>, but at the moment we cannot confirm such a model, “We know our competitors’ offerings, of course, and we know our buyers would love an M model, but at this point it’s too soon to say [if such a model is under development>.”
In addition, to M-series inspired avatar for its X1, a hybrid variant for the same is also making news these days in the automobile industry. But, whatever may be the case, BMW is expected to act fast, as it has already produced hybrid versions of the All-New 7-series, in addition to the 3-series.
The xDrive25i, a ranging champion machine of the X1, which currently runs on a MINI JCW-sourced turbocharged four-pot unit, producing 170kW of power and 350 Nm of torque. But when an M-inspired X1 will join the force, these figures will shoot rocket-high.
