Chevrolet unveils plastic-made 2019 Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss
MANILA: Chevrolet has built up a full-size clone of its all-new 2019 Silverado 1500 LT Trail Boss using Lego bricks. This Lego-model has been unveiled during the first public day of the 2019 NAIAS (North American International Auto Show). The company claimed that it took more than 2,000 hours to build this full-scale copy of the pickup truck.
Chevrolet unveiled Lego Batmobile to celebrate The Lego Batman movie’s debut two years ago. This time around, the Lego pickup truck model is meant for commemorating the upcoming launch of The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part on February 8. Sandor Piszar, the Director of Chevrolet Truck Marketing said “The themes of determination and teamwork in the new movie align perfectly with our Chevy brand values and we are sure that the all-new Silverado has the features, technologies and strength that would help Emmet, Lucy and their friends as they take on exciting new challenges.”
The life-size pickup truck weighs 1,500 kg, which is approximately 450 kilograms less than the original. The model is made of 334,544 pieces of Lego bricks. It measures 6.1 metres in length, 2.4 metres in width, and is 1.8 metres tall. A team of total eighteen specially-trained Lego master builders helped in making this 1:1 -scale plastic truck by selecting and placing each brick on the Silverado. The red exterior is made up of 2X8 red brick, which is the most used piece on this model.
To make the design even more accurate, the makers also replicated the key areas like the Chevy logo, ‘Silverado’ and ‘Trail Boss’ badging and the ‘Chevrolet’ text on the tailgate. And the model also sports working lights.
