Electric PB18 e—tron supercar by Audi revealed at Monterey Car Week
MANILA: During Monterey Car week, Audi revealed its new PB18 e-tron – an electric supercar. The Ingolstadt—based Automaker has presented this car as an all electrical concept.
The Audi Aicon, which was launched in 2017 formed a base for the PB18 e—tron electric supercar concept. The only difference between them is that the Audi Aicon is styled and designed as a fully Automated, long—distance luxury car exactly like a self—flying business jet but on the road. Whereas the new PB18 e—tron is meant to be a radical machine for the racetrack.
Gael Buzyn, Head of Audi design Loft in Malibu, California said, “We want to offer the driver an experience that is otherwise available only in a racing car like Audi R18—that’s why we developed the interior around the ideal driver’s position in the center. But our aim was to also give the PB18 e—tron a high degree of everyday usability, not just for the driver but also for the potential passenger”.
The PB18 e—tron has stylish looks and the desired racing technology. Not only does it have this but with an all-electric powertrain, it has a potential of producing around 700 PS. The front fascia is commanded by Audi’s Signature Singleframe grille and Laser LED matrix headlights. Massive air intakes at the front end help in cooling off the carbon ceramic brakes and electric powertrain.
The PB18 e-tron measures around 4.53 meters long, 2 meters wide, 1.15 meters tall and its wheelbase measures 2.70 meters. The car consists of three electric motors, two of them are at the back separately supporting each rear wheel and one of them is situated at the front. It delivers approximately 680 PS of maximum power (which can be boosted to 775 PS temporarily) with 830 Nm of peak torque. The PB18 e-tron can launch itself from 0-100 kmph at more than 2 seconds.
A Liquid cooled solid battery that has a potential of 95 kWh is equipped in the car for powering the electric motors. The company claims that it takes only 15 minutes to fully charge the car and it can travel 500KM on a full charge with a charging voltage of 800 volts.
The car also contains LMP1 racing technology and has the suspension of R18 e-tron Quattro. The car also consists of carbon ceramic disc brakes that help in slowing down the speed quickly. As the electrification of automobiles is increasing, Audi’s future supercar might have technology from the e-tron concept only.
