Exposed Interiors of Toyota Hilux
MANILA: It is the comfort first, comfort last and comfort always and this comfort is always been about interiors rather than exteriors. This above image is of the upcoming Hilux's cabin which is due to go on sale in Australia in October.
The Japanese makers have indeed given it a posh touch inside with comforts like increased front head and shoulder room, tilt and telescopic steering, expanded range for seat- height adjustment, comfier driving position along with 60:40 split folding seat at rear and a stowable armrest. This shows it is internally larger. It also houses a 6.1-inch tablet-style display which is prominent on the center dash. This display is a touchscreen and is considerably larger than the previous model's infotainment system. A heated/cooled box is also there above the glovebox to keep two 600 ml bottles chilled or warm.
The multifunctional steering wheel support the controls for voice recognition and audio system adjustment including music streamed from a Bluetooth-compatible smart phone. Integral components of two-speaker audio system are Bluetooth connectivity and CD system. 12-volt outlet, electric windows, mirrors, doors locks and reverse cameras are something which are standard across all the Hilux variants.
The flagship models are equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen and Toyota Link which is a connected to mobility system for Pandora users. It also has keyless smart entry and start system, chrome door handles, improved instrument cluster with cool blue illumination, headlight levelling, silver highlights throughout the interiors, and an alarm. The higher variants also receive premium seat upholstery while the Workmate models are trimmed in fabric only.
The new Hilux will be available in 31 different variants which are split in between three body styles, three trim levels, 4X2 or 4X4 driving configuration, three transmissions, and four new engines out of which two are turbo diesel and two are petrol units. Some safety features like seven airbags, seatbelt reminders, traction/stability control, ABS, and emergency stop signals are some of the few which will surely be fitted in this new-gen SUV.
"New Hilux is more unbreakable than ever with a stronger frame and body, new high-torque diesel engines, rugged yet advanced exteriors and spacious interiors that combine modern features with durable designs," said Tony Cramb, Toyota Australia's executive director sales and marketing."Even workers in tough industries like mining, building and farming want the space, ergonomics, technology and ride comfort of the new Hilux interiors – and so do their families," he further added.
