Filipinos, Chevy is bringing you the 2019 Camaro
MANILA: The Ford Mustang is going to have another opponent very soon. Come 2019 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) that will kick off on April 4 2019, The Covenant Car Company Inc (TCCCI), the official distributor of Chevrolet cars in the Philippines will launch a brand new offering for the Filipinos. And the newest vehicle will be none other than the 2019 Camaro. The company announced bringing a new car to the Philippines after previewing the Corvette last year.
Once the sports car arrives on the Philippine shores, the American Camaro will compete with its American counterpart, the Ford Mustang. It will be a battle worth watching, won’t it be? The recently updated Camaro now packs some mean and husky looks thanks to the slim LED headlights, revised dual-port grill, and a sportier than before front bumper. Quad exhaust outlets and a pair of larger taillamps make the Camaro a looker even at the rear.
A revamped cockpit which is more driver-centric than before features big dials in the instrument cluster. Not only that, but there is also a touchscreen infotainment system that goes along the customer’s smartphone without a fuss. As TCCCI has not disclosed which variant with what features will the Philippine market get, all we can do is wait until the company pulls the covers of the sports car very soon. In other markets across the Pacific region though, the Chevrolet Camaro gets three different engines. First up is a 2.0-litre turbo that makes 279 PS of maximum power and a peak torque of 400.
The second option is a 3.5-litre naturally aspirated V6 producing 340 PS and 385 Nm. The third and the last choice comprises of a 6.2-litre all-American V8 pumping out a top power output of 461 PS and a menacing 617 Nm of peak torque. Taking care of power delivery should be both an eight-speed automatic and a ten-speed auto unit available as options. However, as the Ford Mustang now also features a 6-speed manual gearbox, we expect the Chevrolet Camaro to get one too. Chevrolet is very likely to price the 2019 Camaro very close to the Ford Mustang that retails for Php 2.8 million to Php 3.6 million.
