Ford Mach 1 to be based on the Escape
MANILA: The upcoming Ford Mach 1 will neither be based on the Mustang nor it’ll share any of the components with the latter, confirms the American automaker. The Ford Mach 1 is an all-electric crossover with a codename CX430, as per the reports by Autocar UK.
The new details reveal that the Mach 1 will be based on one of the existing Ford models, which is Ford Kuga (popularly known as Ford Escape). The platform will be modified to suit the purpose of a fully electric car.
According to new reports, the Mach 1 will be offered with front-wheel drive system initially. However, you can expect the all-wheel-drive variant coming after a few months of launch. One inspiration that’s taken from the Mustang is its design. So, you can expect the new Mach 1 to feature a bold front fascia and pronounced styling lines. Further, being a crossover, expect a raised driving position, considerable storage spaces inside and last but not the least a versatile character to let you explore.
The Ford Mach 1 will be sold across the globe as said by the Ford officials. Once launched, it will be the first-ever all-electric mass-market Ford model to be produced and marketed. After making its appearance in the US market, it will be sold in Europe and then to other parts of the world. The first finished model is expected to arrive in the UK in 2020.
