Ford unveils the 2018 Mustang GT convertible at the Manila International Auto Show

MANILA: Making its official debut at the 2018 Manila International Auto Show is the upgraded iteration of the Ford Mustang. The 2018 Mustang comes with a number of advanced technologies and a slightly more explosive power.

But the most important feature of the upgraded variant is the fact that it comes with a convertible option along with a hardtop. The 2018 Mustang gets a meaner look and an aerodynamic design. It features a very sharp design with reshaped LED headlights and a bigger grille at the front. However, its pre-facelift version came with a sleeker appearance.

Talking about the power plant, both the convertible and hardtop Mustangs can run on either an all-American V8 or a turbocharged four-cylinder. The 5.0-litre Coyote V8 can generate a maximum power of 460 PS along with a peak torque of 569 Nm, an upgrade of 19 PS of horsepower and 27 Nm of torque from the pre-facelift version. The 2.3-litre EcoBoost, on the other hand, cranks up 314 PS of horsepower and a peak torque of 475 Nm. Compared to the pre-facelift version, it gets an upgrade of 38 Nm of torque, however, the horsepower remains the same.

The V8-powered GT Mustang features a six-speed manual transmission system that comes with a dual mass flywheel and a twin-disc clutch that increases the torque capability. The EcoBoost powered variant gets an option to choose between the manual transmission and a ten-speed automatic transmission system. The manufacturer claims that the newly developed ten-speed transmission can deliver faster shift times along with a reduction in friction losses.

The exterior and interior have also been given a number of design tweaks. The taillights, most notably, now get a curved design. A high-performance spoiler along with new rear diffuser and bumper make for its exterior designing.

In the inside, the 2018 Mustang gets a 12-inch digital instrument panel which can be used to customize the look based on the preference. It also gets new leather upholstery blankets, padded knee bolsters and a hand-stitched center console. The prices of the four variants of the 2018 Ford Mustang will range between Php 2,798,000 and Php 3,678,000.
