GR Supra GT Cup Asia PH winners ready to take on region's best

MANILA: Three e-motorsport racers: Terence Lallave, Lance Padilla,  and Jose Luis Altoveros, are now preparing to represent the country at the regional finals of the Toyota GR Supra GT Cup Asia on October 25, following their win at the national finals of the first virtual racing competition of Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP).

These Filipino racers will be competing against 12 players who are also national champions in their respective countries: Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, and India.

TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto officially presented the winners during the awarding ceremony.

He said, "I would like to congratulate our three winners for pushing their limits and giving their best. Lance, Terrence and Jose, go and make us proud!"

 TMP joined forces with Tuason Racing, the brand's official e-motorsport partner, to offer the needed support in efficiently preparing the team in time for the GR Supra GT Cup Asia regional tournament.

To guarantee a lag-free, fast, and smooth internet connection while the Philippine team races with its Asian contenders on the digital tracks of Gran Turismo Sport on PlayStation, TMP was able to tap PLDT Enterprise as the official connectivity partner of Team Philippines.

According to the e-PLDT President and CEO and SVP and Head of PLDT and Smart Enterprise Business Groups Jovy Hernandez, the current situation has enabled the company to formulate advanced approaches to continue with daily routines and that technology has become a key player for such programs. 

Tuason Racing President JP Tuason added, “I think we have a good chance of placing well in the regional finals. We have a strong lineup of drivers. We will prepare the drivers and with a bit of luck in the race, possibly get a podium position.”

Lallave is a 35-year-old social media influencer and businessman while Altoveros is a 25-year-old photographer and writer. Both reside in Quezon City.

Meanwhile, Padilla is a 24-year-old businessman and aircraft mechanic from Bacoor, Cavite.

When asked how he is preparing for the regional championship, Lallave shared, “My strategy is to technically practice as much as I could every day."

As for Padilla, his plan is to “practice every day with my teammates and to strategize and familiarize (myself) with the tracks we’re competing on and be faster than the competitors."

Altoveros added, “I just met my teammates so we need to work on that. I know the other guys (from the other countries) are really really good so we need to come up with a strategy."
