Have a sneak peek at the 2020 Land Rover Defender’s interior
MANILA: The 2020 Land Rover has been making news stories for quite some time now. And spy shots are seen time and again. The intense testing of the 4x4 shows that the manufacturer is not going to risk anything with the newest iteration of the Defender.
Thus, while the Defender still packs a boxy design language, the technology inside is going to be as modern as we see in present-day Land Rover models.
Talking about the newest image of the 2020 Defender, we get to have a look at a portion of the dashboard of the 4x4. While the overall appearance of the dash is kinda retro due to the design of the steering wheel and some other elements.
The bold and big fonts and a never seen before instrument cluster hint that the new Defender won’t be borrowing any stuff from other Land Rover offerings. A box that is present just ahead of the instrument cluster is presumably for the heads-up display.
The centre of attraction is the floating infotainment system screen sitting above two circular dials and a high-mounted gear shifter. The dials are probably for climate control. The high-mounted gear shifter clearly tells that the variant in the image is equipped with an automatic gearbox, however, there might just be a manual option for the purists.
Some interesting bits inside include the accelerator and brake pedal with “Go” and “Stop” mentioned on them, respectively. The dashboard, just like the overall design of the 4x4, is boxy. Aluminium trim on the passenger end has the word “Defender” stamped on it. Looking at what could be a large armrest or a middle seat,
speculations are being made that the 2020 Land Rover Defender may seat 3 people at the front, taking the total occupant capacity to 6. With the 4x4 from Land Rover set to make its debut in either the third or fourth quarter of 2019, we expect more details about the car to leak soon.
