Honda announces to bring more Civic Type R in 2018

MANILA: Honda’s Performance Vehicle segment has been widely appreciated and demanded in the Philippines. And considering the overwhelming market response in the country, HCPI (Honda Cars Philippines Inc) has announced that the Civic Type R will be available in the country once again for 2018.

Ever since the Honda Civic Type R was introduced in the Philippines last year, it earned a widespread recognition along with many local awards, which includes 2017 Best Sports Compact Car by Car Awards Group Inc, 2017 C! Magazine’s Best Driver’s Car, and the 2017 Top Gear Philippines’ Car of the Year.

The  Civic is one of the most popular models in the Honda’s line up for the Philippines. Hence, with such a good reputation to work with, the Type R serves as a distinct performance-oriented version. The car is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged VTEC engine which can produce a good power of 311 PS along with a maximum torque of 400 Nm. The power is sent down to the wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox.

The Honda Civic Type R is nothing short of a visual treat to everyone who is interested in medium-powered performance cars. The Honda logo upfront gets red inserts and nose is more sculpted for the racetrack purpose. There are red colour inserts all around the car, which includes red disc brake callipers, red piping along the lower skirts, and rear bumper, etc. There is a huge race spoiler on the boot area and a shark fin antenna.

Inside, the Honda Civic Type R is covered in black and red all around. Red pipings skite through the black inner door panel and dashboard. The seats get a “Type R” badge on them. On the dashboard, there is a 7-inch touchscreen TFT display with eight speakers (including four tweeters) connected to it.

Speaking of the safety, there are six airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Assist, and Hill Start Assist. A multi-view rear view mirror and walk away auto-lock are also included in the Type R package.

Inquiry for interested buyers have started at all the 37 Honda dealerships in the country from May 11 and deliveries would commence from October 2018. However, it would again be a limited edition model with just 100 units coming up.
