Honda City, Accord earn nods at ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix Awards 2020
MANILA: The Honda City and Honda Accord earned four prestigious safety-related awards at the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (ASEAN NCAP) Grand Prix Awards 2020.
The 10th-generation Honda Accord, which has been given a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, won three awards under the “Best Safety Performance” category: Overall (for getting the highest score in the whole assessment), Child Occupant Protection , and Adult Occupant Protection (AOP).
The model had its ASEAN launch in Thailand in March 2019. Since then, it has extended sales to six other countries.
It also gained numerous awards in ASEAN countries like the Philippines (Best in Safety Features-Midsize Sedan, Auto Focus People’s and Media’s Choice Awards 2020), Malaysia (Executive Sedan of the Year, Carlist.my- People’s Choice Awards 2019), and Thailand (Best Midsize Sedan under 2,000 cc, Car of the Year 2019).
In the Philippine market, the 10th-generation Honda Accord was unveiled last September 2019.
Aside from the safety features that it possesses, the 10th-generation Honda Accord boasts of Honda Sensing to help avoid and efficiently respond to risky driving situations.
The fifth-generation Honda City, the latest Honda model to attain a five-star safety rating, won the ASEAN NCAP Excellent Award- Consistent 5 Star for the consecutive five-star safety rating of its third, four, and fifth generation as well as its superb performance.
After the global debut of the all-new Honda City in Thailand in November 2019, it was also launched in Vietnam, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The model recorded sales of more than 45,000 units within one year after its introduction, which highlights it as the top-selling Honda model in ASEAN.
The all-new City was launched through the first-ever virtual premiere of HCPI during the 30th anniversary of the auto brand in the country last October 22.
For the first time, the Honda City gets a 1.5 RS CVT variant, which gives out a more supreme and sportier appeal.
