Hyundai Booth at 2016 GIIAS - What to Expect?
MANILA: Hyundai the South Korean automaker is under plans to make an unforgettable appearance at 2016 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show. Though the company has not yet revealed what all cars it will be bringing to this year’s GIIAS but we are sure they will be the finest among the Hyundai lot. The said auto show will commence from 11th August and will last till 21st August. And if someone from the Philippines is planning a trip to the said auto show then we'll like to inform you that Hyundai has set its booth in Hall 7C ICE (Indonesian Convention Exhibition) in Bumi Serpong Damai City, South Tangerang, Banten. Also don’t forget to look out for Mitsubishi XM MPV crossover concept that is making great hype in the auto industry.
Only a few days back Hendrik Wiradjaja, Hyundai Indonesia Marketing Director revealed that the company will be showcasing as many as three new products at 2016 GIIAS. While the names of the said vehicles are still under veil but as per the sources, the new lineup will consist of one commercial, one city, and one SUV car.
What we can do now is just sit back and guess the cars that have the highest probability to fit in the empty spaces. Well according to us, Hyundai i20 holds a good chance to fit in the city car lot, as Hyundai is planning a comeback for its B-segment hatch from quite sometime. However, latest Starex looks like a promising contender in the other segment. These are just predictions, let's see how close are we to actual results. On the SUV front we are out of clues but whatever comes, it will have to compete with Isuzu mu-X, which is also set to debut at 2016 GIIAS.
Hyundai i20 that is expected to debut at the 2016 GIIAS is a bit different than what we have in the Philippines. The Indonesian dedicated i20 though like the previous generation models is also designed and developed by Hyundai's European Team driven by Audi AG alumni Peter Schreyer. Changes can be witnessed on the following fronts -
1. Built on a completely new platform that is claimed by Hyundai to better than before.
2. Changes are highly reflected on the dimension front, as all the sides from length to wheelbase are stretched. Length by 40mm, width by 24mm and height by 16mm extension has achieved a total of 4,035mm x 1,724mm x 1,474mm (LXWXH). Wheelbase is extended by 45mm (2,570mm) that makes the cabin more spacious and controls more precise and sharp.
3. As for the power mill, we are expecting to see the latest 1.4-liter Kappa engine that is said to produce 100 PS of power and 133 Nm of torque. The said mill holds a possibility to come paired with 6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox.
On the commercial vehicle front, as discussed above Starex holds good chances. This lower version of H-1 is already on sale in the Thai market where it is only offered in diesel option. As for its utility, Starex can be used as both an operational vehicle ( travel, ambulance, taxi) and for public transport.
In the midst of new models, Hyundai GIIAS stall will also house Hyundai on-going cars. Also, the company will be giving great offers and promo for auto show restricted time frame.
