Hyundai Kona coming soon to the Philippines
MANILA: Hyundai Philippines is ready to welcome its newest and much-awaited crossover, Kona, this year. The company has recently uploaded a short video on Facebook highlighting its design that grabbed the iF Design Award for this year. The car is being considered a quality contender in the local B-segment crossover market.
The Hyundai Kona is expected to be launched at the Manila International Auto Show this year along with the new Santa Fe. The show is scheduled to run from April 5-8, 2018 at the World Trade Center in Manila.
Both Kona and Santa Fe are featured with Hyundai’s latest SUV design language, featuring split headlamps and dynamic dual headlight design and cascading grille. Size-wise, the Kona features a length of 4,165mm, width of 1,800mm wide and height of 1,550mm, which is very close to the size of the Nissan Juke. Kona is expected to give good competition to the existing compact SUVs like Ford Ecosport, Honda HR-V, and Suzuki Vitara etc.
A distinct appearance has been given to the Kona by positioning turn signals high up on each corner and by adding slim daytime running lights. Like all the new launches in this segment, it too has in-built infotainment system, supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Kona made its very first appearance in the mid of last year and has been made available to the European markets. Power figures for the variants coming to the Philippines are not known yet. And so, we will need to wait for its official launch at the Manila Auto Show to get the precise information.
A teaser image of the Kona and Santa-Fe has been shared by Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the exclusive distributor of Hyundai vehicles in the Philippines.
