Hyundai shows off lounge-like Ioniq concept cabin
MANILA: What if your future’s car’s cabin is more like a lounge than a typical auto interior? Well, that thought is not that far-fetched for Hyundai.
The Korean automaker has unveiled its version of futuristic-looking cabins with this Ioniq concept that aims to heighten customer experiences by changing a basic transportation machine into a personal mobility solution that can fit various lifestyles.
With that amount of space as seen in the photo, Hyundai plans to install home electronics and appliances in the cabin of all future Ioniq models, all of which are customizable and will cater to the needs and demands of each customer.
The Ioniq Concept Cabin is made in partnership with LG Electronics and gives a hint of what’s possible in EV interiors. For example, “Clothing Care” and “Shoes Butler” will allow customers to handle mundane tasks on the go, while they enjoy content on the ceiling-mounted 77-inch flexible OLED screen. The screen is large enough for two people to enjoy different content simultaneously. The sound is pumped through the speakers in the headrests which creates a personal sound zone. In addition, a floor cleaning robot along with the overhead UV LED lights ensures the cabin is kept clean and disinfected.
Expect the Ioniq concept cabin in the Ioniq 5 electric vehicle which is slated for launch early next year.
“The Ioniq concept cabin is one of a kind and an unprecedented approach to enhancing customer experience as it can be customized for different needs and lifestyles. Dedicated EVs will enable us to revolutionize the experience Hyundai delivers to its customers, empowering them to do more in and out of the vehicles,” said Hyundai Motor Company Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer Wonhong Cho,.
