Jaguar I-Pace Concept revealed

MANILA: Taking innovation to the next level, the British automaker, Jaguar has introduced its first-ever all-electric SUV, the I-Pace concept. The all-electric SUV will make its public debut at the 2016 LA Auto Show while, the production version will be introduced in a time span of 2 years. With I-Pace, Jaguar has clearly marked the territory in which it wants to take a significant share and rival once it is launched in the global market.

Tesla is the biggest player in the electric cars segment which has managed to change the perception of the users towards electric cars. Now, there are cars which are not only competent in performance but, are also equipped with advanced technology like self-drive mode. All these factors have resulted in an improved demand of electric cars and each automaker is playing its part to contribute in the respective segment. Jaguar has made its entry in the segment with a bang and the I-Pace concept is not only looking promising but, is less with all the comforts and technology of the future.

The all-electric SUV is powered by two electric motors which work together to deliver a maximum power of 400 hp and peak torque of 700 Nm. Power is transmitted to all four wheels and 100 kmph mark can be achieved from naught under 4 seconds. The driving range and charging time are the two important factors for an electric car and Jaguar has considered both these factors to make I-Pace concept one of its kind. According to Jaguar, this SUV has a range of 500 km and the 90-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery pack can reach its 80% capacity with a charge of 90 minutes via 50-kW fast-charging DC station.

A full charge can be achieved in just 2 hours and according to Jaguar, if you drive 48 km in a day, the car needs to be charged just once in a week. The Tata-owned, British brand has confirmed that I-Pace will be available in all the US states by the second quarter of 2018 and with the introduction of the concept, the company has started taking orders for its all-electric SUV.
