Jeep Commander images leaked ahead of its official debut
MANILA: Jeep Commander, the next SUV in the company’s lineup for the Chinese market is all set to make its debut at the 2018 Beijing Auto Show in April. But, some media websites in China have already leaked the images of 2018 Commander. The production version of the SUV is inspired by the Yuntu concept, which was first showcased at the 2017 Shanghai Motor Show.
According to the images leaked, the Jeep Commander will be available in two trims - Longitude and Limited. In terms of power delivery, the SUV will be offered in both - front-wheel- and four-wheel-drive options. To mark the difference between the two trims, the higher variant is finished with chrome inserts along the window frames, front bumper, and side sills.
The Yuntu Concept showcased six-seater configuration whereas, the production version is a proper seven-seater. Images of the cabin are not revealed yet and it is expected that the details will be revealed at the time of showcase. Powering the Jeep Commander will be a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder, a turbo-petrol engine that delivers a maximum power output of 270 hp and peak torque of 400 Nm. This is the same engine which powers the 2018 Wrangler.
The overall dimension of the Commander measure 4,873 mm in length, 1,892 mm in width and 1,738mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. This makes the upcoming Commander, slightly longer, wider and taller than Compass. We have no information on the Commander launch in the local market, the manufacturer might think on introducing a sub-four meter SUV in a highly demanding market. Let’s see what the new Commander has to offer in its respective segment.
