Lamborghini sees a 43% increase in annual sales in 2019

MANILA: It seems as if the kids of the past who had a desire of getting themselves a super expensive luxury or performance car are finally realising their dreams. As we saw a week ago, Rolls-Royce broke all of its previous records by selling 5,152 cars in 2019. The British automaker saw an increase of 25% in its total sales as it sold 1,100 more units in 2019 than in 2018. Similarly, Lamborghini, another top-of-the-line car brand not reachable for everyone, has also witnessed record-breaking sales figures.

With the end of 2019, the Italian automaker sat down doing the calculations and found out that it had sold 8,205 cars throughout the year. Compared to the 5,750 units sold in 2018, Lamborghini managed to experience a rise of 43% in its sales in 2019. As for the top markets for the automaker, the US, once again, came on top with 2,374 sales. Other to-contributors were Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao (770), the UK (658), Japan (641), Germany (562), the Middle East (387), Canada (376), and Italy (370).

The major contributor to the inflated sales figures was the Lamborghini Urus. Since the SUV segment is on the rise and facing a big surge, it is no surprise that the car found as many as around 4962 homes in 2019. With that said, the SUV clinched on to 60% of the automaker's total sales numbers. Besides that, the Aventador V12s and the Huracáns found 1104 and 2139 buyers, respectively. Also, the Lamborghini Huracán crossed the milestone of 14,022 units sold in 2019, just after 5 years since its introduction. It is a feat which its predecessor Gallardo took 10 years to achieve.

"The year 2019 was the most successful in our history. The team delivered another substantial sales increase, taking us to unprecedented historic highs. In only two years we more than doubled our sales numbers, a success that cannot be overrated. This clearly proves the power of our brand and the quality and sustainability of our product and commercial strategy. Simultaneously we further increased our high brand awareness, especially with the younger generations, having multiplied our following on social media channels to more than 40 million", said Lamborghini chairman and CEO Stefano Domenicali.

Lamborghini currently possesses 165 dealerships operating in 51 countries around the globe. The surge in the total sales figures came coursey of increase of demand in various markets. While the Asia Pacific region witnessed a growth of 66%, other markers like North America, Europe-Middle East-Africa, and Australia went up by 45%, 28%, and 9.7%, respectively.

The Lamborghini chairman and CEO also went on to acknowledge the contribution of each of the Lamborghini team members for his/her inspiration and dedication towards the brand. Moreover, Domenicali also showed gratitude to the company's shareholders for their continued support.
