Lexus released pictures of its upcoming premium crossover - The UX
MANILA: The premium crossover segment will soon get a new member, coming from the Japanese luxury brand, Lexus. Tagged as UX by its makers, the said crossover was revealed first as a concept at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. And it was since then the auto world eagerly waited to see UX concept production spec. The wait is now finally over, as Lexus recently announced UX production model to make an appearance at the upcoming 2018 Geneva International Motor Show alongside with Lexus LF-1 Limitless concept and Lexus RX L.
But that’s not where the good news ends, Lexus continuous to treat auto buffs by releasing teaser images followed by the recent all-clear official pictures of the UX. Looking at the pictures, the first few words that come to mind is bold and aggressive. The design language followed by the production-spec looks different from the one displayed by the concept. Thus, making the car look more practical and user-oriented. Some highlighting features dominating the exterior front include Lexus signature spindle front grille, sleek swept back LED headlights, and L-shaped fog lamp casing sitting smarty on a low-slung bumper.
On to the side, UX continuously displays a macho feel with crisp contour lines stretching from the front fender to C-pillar and another one following the floor cladding. Next set of striking features include - more than usual popped-out ORVM, squared prominent wheel arches housing diamond-cut alloy wheels. As for the rear, we don’t have many clues, for the fact that Lexus released no rear-end image. But the earlier set of teaser images revealed an all-new set of tail lights, never seen on a Lexus.
Inspecting the interior image, we see a distinct cabin layout borrowed from none. Taking care of occupants comfort are included what looks like sport bucket seats, automatic air-con system, and heads-up infotainment system.
Though information on the powertrain in near scares, but looking back at the concept we remember to spot monikers readings of UX200, UX250, and UX250h. These readings hint towards the fact that the soon to be revealed UX will be powered both by a combustion mill and a hybrid engine.
On its arrival in the market, Lexus UX will go against existing premium crossovers like BMW X2, Audi Q2, Jaguar E-Pace and Mercedes-Benz GLA.
