Lexus UX 2018 Concept SUV to debut at Geneva Motor Show
MANILA: Lexus has released a teaser video of its upcoming UX SUV, which is scheduled to be showcased at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March this year. The UX SUV will be the production version of the Lexus UX Concept showcased by the company at the Paris Motor show in 2016.
The teaser shows the silhouette of the car with a full-width tail-light strip, which curves as fins at both the ends. No more details are revealed, however, it is expected to feature a bold design with edgy exteriors, sharply designed headlights, and a noticeable spindle grille.
The Lexus UX SUV is expected to be released in three variants - UX 200, UX 250, and UX 250h, where the ‘h’ in the UX 250h denotes a hybrid model. The crossover is built on Toyota’s modular TNGA platform that also underpins the Toyota C-HR (Coupe High Rider). The engine is expected to be borrowed either from the C-HR itself, or the Lexus NX for the regular variants and Toyota Prius for the hybrid variant.
In addition to the UX crossover, Lexus will be showcasing the three-row luxury crossover RX L and the LF-1 Limitless concept.
Lexus has neither confirmed the model nor the price for the Philippines yet. However, a minimum price of $30,000 (1.56 Mn Pesos) is on the cards.
Lexus currently has four SUVs on sale in the Philippines - NX, RX, GX, and LX. Lexus NX, which is a 5-seater compact SUV is the most affordable and popular model of the lot with three variants on offer. The base variant, NX 200t comes with a 2.0-litre DOHC engine that generates up to 235 hp of power. The Lexus UX SUV, if it comes to the Philippines, will be placed below the NX
