MIAS 2017: Mazda MX-5 RF launched

MANILA: One of the prominent two-seaters from the Japanese automaker has finally landed in the Philippines. Yes, Mazda MX-5 RF has been launched in the Philippines at the ongoing MIAS 2017. The MX-5 RF has not only made its entry in the Philippines but, the world debut as well. The three-piece roof can be operated at speeds up to 10 kmph with just a push of the button without compromising the boot volume with a trunk capacity of 130 litres.

The overall dimensions of the two-seater measure 3,915 mm X 1,735 mm X 1,245 mm (L X W X H) and the wheelbase stand at 2310 mm. For the Philippines market, the Mazda MX-5 RF is offered in four color options - White Pearl, Jet Black, Blue Reflex, and Ceramic. In addition to this, there are also two premium colors which include Machine Gray and Soul Red. In terms of styling, the changes are limited but impactful.

Under the hood, the MX-5 RF is powered by a 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G DOHC 16V inline-4 with i-STOP (idling stop) technology, which results in improved fuel economy. The maximum power delivered by this engine measures 155 hp at 6000 rpm while the peak torque rest at 200 Nm at 4,600 rpm. In terms of safety, the all-new Mazda MX-5 RF is packed with dual front airbags, side impact airbags, ABS with EBD, Dynamic Stability Control, Rear Parking Sensors, and Smart Keyless Entry System.

The all-new Mazda MX-5 RF is priced at Php 2,180,000 for standard color options while if you select Nappa leather variant then you have to pay Php 2,250,000. Whereas, the premium color options will include Php 2,266,800. So, let’s see how the updated MX-5 RF will perform in the Philippines market with a limited set of competition.
