MIAS 2017: Second-Generation Mazda CX-5 launched

MANILA: One of the much-awaited launches of the MIAS 2017, the second-generation Mazda CX-5 has finally taken place. The 2017 Mazda CX-5 bridges the gap between the CX-3 and CX-9 and follows the company’s ‘KODO - Soul Of Motion’ design language. The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is sharper, edgier and much more aggressive than the previous generation model. Thanks to the LED daytime running lights which add the differentiating factor. The front grille has been retained from the previous model but now features honeycomb design.

The three character lines by the window, fenders, and lower half of the doors and broad shoulder line gives a mature and elegant touch to the SUV while the sloping roofline accentuates the overall profile in an effective manner. At the back, the taillights are now slimmer and are further defined by character lines. The integrated rear spoiler and pair of reflectors at the lower half of the bumper completes the design. The cabin has not witnessed major changes but, the air vents are now pentagon shaped and the dash is more upright.

Use of leather and soft-touch materials are increased while seat comfort is same as the previous model. Under the hood, the 2017 Mazda CX-5 is available in three engine options - 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G, 2.5-litre with AWD and 2.2 SkyActiv-D. The 2.0-litre engine unit delivers 155 PS maximum power and 200 Nm peak torque while the 2.5-litre version raises the figures to 190 PS and 251 Nm. The 2.2-litre engine comes with 175 PS power rating and 420 Nm peak torque.
