MIAS 2019 - Cars a prospective buyer must check out
Manila International Auto Show is an annual affair (at last from a couple of years) and each year our eyes are set on those heavenly, unattainable cars/concepts. This time around, we thought of starting the MIAS 2019 journey a bit differently, i.e., with cars we could actually buy. Don’t worry, we’ll also cover the futuristic stuff later.
Now, we have already covered a story revealing the names of all the automakers attending the show, check it out here. Many more stories will be coming up before and during the MIAS 2019 that you can track on our dedicated MIAS Wired page.
Wasting not a word further, here are a few cars worth checking out by prospective buyers at the Manila International Auto Show 2019 -
1.Kia Soluto
The first car on our list is the recently launched Kia Soluto. Will as for now there is only the standard EX variant with essential comfort and convenience features along with an affordable price tag. However, at the MIAS 2019, Kia will pull the cover off a new Soluto trim, and that’s what we are digging.
2. Suzuki Ertiga
Here’s an offering for the family man, the all-new Ertiga. After an unbeaten run of the Ertiga MPV, the Japanese auto brand only a few months back introduced its next-gen model. And we must say, Suzuki has done a great job not only on the design but feature front as well. While on the outside, its new grille and crisp shoulder line grab attention,
the 7-seater cabin packs multiple USB ports, touchscreen infotainment system, 3-row air-con vents, wooden trims on the dash and much more. Also, the Ertiga MPV can now accommodate passengers comfortably and much more luggage than before thanks to its 130 mm increase in length.
3. Subaru Forester
Next up is an entry from Subaru, the all-new Forester that was recently given a complete overhaul by the company. The new model is the most capable and roomiest version of the Forster we have ever witnessed.
On the performance front, the car gets a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder mill coupled with CVT. Also, included in the list are EyeSight drive-assist tech and active torque vectoring for improved stability and handling.
4. Suzuki Jimny
A car for the adventure lovers that we can say is a mini, budget version of the Mercedes G-Class Wagon (no offence). Well, the Suzuki Jimny was for sure one of the most anticipated launches of the year. And in its new and massively improved form, the car didn’t disappoint us a bit.
Here are some of its highlighting features - 210 mm of ground clearance, ladder-frame chassis, four-wheel drive with low range transfer, and rigid axle suspension with coil springs. If all the above mechanical terms got you confused, don’t worry they only indicate towards new Jimny’s improved off-road capability. Lastly, it is powered by a capable and efficient 1.5-litre petrol engine.
5. MG GS
Time to check out the British offering from the one and only Morris Garages, the GS. With this compact crossover, the MG brand is taking its first step in the SUV segment in the Philippines market. And as can be seen in the image, it is an attractive looking car that we feel would be a good first buy.
On the outside, the car impresses us with its semi-fastback roofline, crisp styling, sporty aesthetics, and not to forget muscular arches. The cabin, on the other hand, has a lot to offer as well like rear aircon vents, fine upholstery, adjustable rear backrests, ergonomic setup and more.
6. Foton Gratour iM6
When at MIAS 2019, don’t forget to stop by the Foton Philippines booth. This year, the automaker is bringing a bunch of new offerings for both personal and corporate use. Included in the list is - the Gratour iM6, a capable family car with an impressive profile. Also,
on display will be the new TM variants of its mini-truck line, as well as updates to the ETX-N cargo and crane truck, 19-seater Traveller XL van, Hurricane EST-M with 20 and 22-foot capability, the 12- and 17-foot Tornado truck with van.
5. Hyundai Santa Fe
Something for buyers who are ready to shed a little bit more, we are talking about the latest edition of Hyundai Santa Fe, the 2.2 R CRDi GLS 2WD. With a price tag of Php 2.338 million, it sure is an expensive choice but has so much to offer that every penny is justified.
That’s all for now, stay tuned for all the latest info around MIAS 2019 and the auto industry in general.
