Mitsubishi makes big global STEP to help resolve social issues
MANILA: As Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC), under the leadership of president and CEO Mutsuhiro Oshikiri, continues to provide mobility solutions (transporting frontline workers and goods to various parts of the city) to the local government of Santa Rosa City in Laguna, the global head office in Japan, Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC), has tweaked its corporate social responsibility (CSR) program in order to be more inclusive in addressing global social issues.
Called STEP (Society, Traffic Safety, Environment, and People), it is a social contribution activity that utilizes each employee's skills and know-how, the company’s technologies and products, and more importantly, voluntary donation of fixed sums by employees, which is then matched by MMC, in order to fund support activities in various countries around the world.
One beneficiary of this program is Santa Rita City in Samar where ¥3 million (P1.420 million) was donated to build a new classroom building for the Camayse Elementary School.
MMC has revised the program’s policy which, according to a statement, aims to “widen the scope of its social contribution activities while enhancing links with major markets and inheriting existing activities, thereby to further contribute to the resolution of global social issues, which have been diversifying in recent years, including natural disasters and social inequality.”
That means, regardless of generation or geographical location, STEP will contribute to:
- Development of local communities through activities tailored to local needs;
- Realization of a safe and secure society with no traffic accidents;
- Preservation of our precious global environment;
- Realization of a life full of smiles by supporting and being considerate of people.
A new logo has been developed to reflect the changes including the new tagline, “STEP to the future.”
