Nissan has unleashed the all-new Leaf NISMO RC
MANILA: The Nissan Leaf is one of the most selling electric cars out there in the market. Taking advantage of the well-established tag, the Japanese car manufacturer has turned to the track with a race-focused Leaf. Defying the convention that the Leaf is a city focused electric vehicle, Nissan has gone bonkers with the racing edition of the Leaf.
Zero carbon footprint, sporty looks, some crazy power, and what not! The Nissan NISMO has it all. This Leaf NISMO RC has been developed by Nissan Motorsport International Limited, called NISMO. On the outside, this Leaf packs retro racing looks and is tremendously aerodynamic. There is also the V-Motion front grille at the front and a rear wing for that extra downforce. With red NISMO accents, the Nissan Leaf NISMO RC features a silver-black paint job.
In terms of power, the Leaf NISMO RC is astonishing. The combination of the two motors, one at the front and other at the rear, the total power output is 326 PS. Either of the motors is capable of throwing out 163 PS. And if you’re thinking about the peak torque, well, it’s 640 Nm. Powering the extravagant motors are high-capacity lithium-ion batteries. With these power figures, the Nissan Leaf NISMO RC is twice as powerful as the previous track focused Nissan Leaf.
Danielle Schillaci, Executive Vice President, Nissan Global Head of Marketing, Sales and Electric Vehicles said, “The all-new LEAF NISMO RC shows how we're setting our sights even higher when it comes to raw power and performance – making electric vehicles even more exciting for customers. It's our most thrilling expression yet of the philosophy of Nissan Intelligent Mobility”.
The Nissan Leaf NISMO RC has been provided with a lot of carbon fibre parts. With a light-weight body of 1,220 kg and powerful motors, this car can do a 0-100 kmph run in 3.4 seconds only. For a much better cornering experience, Nissan has equipped the Leaf NISMO RC with an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system that features independent power delivery to each axle. Which in turn, provides maximum torque to the wheel with the highest grip level.
Only 6 units of the Nissan Leaf NISMO RC will be produced. They will take part in Formula E races and other global events. The cars will also travel around the world for the fans who would be able to feel the thrills of this powerful EV by Nissan.
