Nissan turns NV300 van into woodworker workshop
MANILA: Nissan has come up with a fully equipped mobile workshop. It was William Hardie of Studio Hardie, the famous woodworker and craftsman, who converted the NV300 van into the concept mobile van. The car looks similar to the standard NV300 which is known to be Nissan’s version of the Renault Trafic. Both the vans are the fruits of the joint Nissan-Renault Alliance.
The modified N300 van has a lot of solar panels along with a decal work. Apart from these, not a lot of changes have been made on the outside of the van and most of the modifications have been done inside to maximize the space and utility.
At the rear, there is a woodworker's workshop. The ceiling inside has LED light panels. Rails are given for the hardwood floor and there is also a folding stool that can be slid forward. A touchscreen computer is also included. The tools have been placed perfectly on the walls and doors. The toolset includes combination squares, try squares, mallets, woodworking clamps, extension cords, hammers and fine Japanese saws.
The NV300 Concept van has a framing system with a large appearance that looks to be made of 2” x 2” lumber. This a very innovative and modular way to allow storing of a lot of equipment. The driver’s side panel comes with a unique shelving system to place the likes of power tool storage and round-edged boxes.
The vehicle also has a unique feature called Nissan ROAM. It helps to charge other gadgets via USB and is also used to power some tools like the routers jigsaws. The automaker also said it was the Leaf EV’s battery technology from where the ROAM has been developed.
Nissan claims that the woodworker-inspired NV300 Concept van is the practical example of the Nissan Intelligent Mobility. It also displays the automaker’s thought for the commercial line of customers in the near future.
