Passenger cars pace Hyundai’s 38.8% sales growth in Sept.
MANILA: Hyundai Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI) has recorded a 38.3% increase in sales for September versus the previous month.
In a release, HARI said it believes that the easing of health restrictions in the National Capital Region (NCR) contributed to the sales growth.
The passenger car (PC) segment led the sales growth as it recorded a 64.8% increase versus the previous month. The locally assembled Hyundai Accent emerged as the top-selling passenger car with 91.8% growth.
Meanwhile, the light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment recorded 16.5% sales growth. Leading the pack was the Hyundai H-100, which became a hit among the country’s growing SME community. Its sales increased by 53.3% versus the previous month.
On the other hand, the commercial vehicle (CV) segment sales went down by 50% last September. The lingering effects of the August lockdowns, including delays in the local production of the Class II and Class III Modern Jeepneys that use the Hyundai HD50S chassis, potentially caused the sales dip.
In a statement, HARI President and Chief Executive Officer Ma. Fe Perez-Agudo said, “We remain driven forward as we approach the finish line of yet another challenging year. With news regarding the further decline of infections and the lowering of health-related restrictions in the country by the end of this month, we can look forward to providing our customers better journeys this holiday season.”
