Porsche to recall 60,000 SUVs for emission issues

MANILA:  Energy efficiency laws and regulations were accorded for the welfare and betterment of the environment. Each automobile manufacturer is required to produce vehicles in accordance with these regulations. It looks like the scandals on diesel emission are going to stick around for sometimes. Porsche; the sportscar brand of Volkswagen Group recalled almost 60,000 diesel-engine models of Cayenne and Macan sport utility cars. According to the reports, the Cayenne and Macan models are equipped with Euro-6 compliant engines, which is the latest variant right now. In order to avert any regulatory ban on the sales, this is the second time that Macan was recalled this year, in order to update their emissions control software.

Porsche is now going to recall sixty thousand diesel-powered SUVs all over Europe, as according to the German authorities; the cars are equipped with illegal ‘emission-cheating’ software. According to the reports, the recall of 52,831 Macans that have turbo engine V6 and 6.7565 Cayennes with turbo engine V8 will happen in mid-2018. They were already ordered to be recalled in October 2017. Some reports have also surfaced up which rumors that Porsche has been involved in a fraudulent regarding the energy efficient laws and regulations.

In February 2018, the German regulators were told by Porsche that they have found some ‘irregularities’ in the emission testing data. Joerg Kerner, who was the head of powertrain development of Porsche’s was arrested last month due to his involvement in the ‘Dieselgate’ emissions scandal. However, hard times are not going to wither away for Porsche soon and also for the Volkswagen group because German authorities have further ordered the extensive investigation and more searches to be done in Porsche and Volkswagen factories all over Europe to check for more such vehicles. Till the time Porsche clears its name from the chart, it will not be an easy situation for them to give their customers the perfect service and assurance all over the European diaspora and other countries as well.
