Showcasing the Brand New 2016 BMW X1
MANILA: BMW announces its all-new X1, the smallest crossover in their sports activity vehicle (SAV) lineup with a pledge of a roomier interior, more technology, and greater efficiency. This second generation all new SAV is not based on the 1 series, rather it shares its platform from the Mini Countryman.
The BMW X1 is taller by 53 mm in height than its predecessor. The bolder and upright kidney grille, curvier headlights, high mounted fog lamps, roof rail, and the three sectional air intakes below it give an idiosyncratic look. The stylish looks are further highlighted by the LED daytime running lights with LED headlights available in tie up with the premium package. What comes as standard is the 18-inch light weight alloy wheels.
The 2016 BMW X1 comes with four trim levels: the standard model, Sport line, X-line, and M-sport. The crossover receives a transverse mounted engine layout which indicates that it will be a front wheel drive. After 2-series active tourer, it is the second BMW to go front wheel drive, known as sDrive. The engine fitted in BMW X1 is a 2.0 liter, four-cylinder engine available in gas and diesel variants. The 2.0 liter diesel engine will spur 150 PS to 231 PS of power and 330 Nm to 450 Nm of torque, whereas the gas engine would generate 192 PS to 231 PS of power and torque in the range of 280 Nm to 350 Nm. The engine is mated with either six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission and features twin power turbo technology.
The interiors are plush with more space and features. The knee room is increased by 37 mm and the cargo space can also be extended through the 40:20:40 folding option in the rear seat configuration. A 6.5-inch dashboard display with seven-speaker audio system, Servotronic speed-sensitive steering, and cloth seats come as standard. With a choice of premium package, you get a larger panoramic sunroof along with the head-up display. The drive assistance plus package brings with it some additional features like automatic high beams, active cruise control, park assist, lane departure assist, pedestrian detection and frontal collision warning.
With other standard safety features sophisticatedly integrated inside it, the X1 is scheduled for sale from October in the Germany whereas there is no such good news for Philippines yet.
