Stuff that could make the 2019 MIAS an even bigger HIT!
MANILA: The grandest event of the Philippine automobile industry is around the corner. And don’t you tell us that you have not locked your seat belts yet, as this ride is going to be one hell of an adventure. Slated to rock the town of Manila from April 4 to April 7,
the 2019 Manila International Auto Show is set to thrill one and all just like it had been doing since its inception in the year 2019. Like before, a number of both local and overseas brands will be showcasing their best of the lot at the World Trade Center, Metro Manila.
While it is quite evident that there are extremely excitement and interesting time ahead of us at the show, we kind of wish for some particular events to take place. Why? They’re just going to lit the show, and we say with no hesitation. Read on to know what could be the best of the happenings at the 2019 Manila International Auto Show.
A surprise element courtesy non-vehicle producers
While car manufacturers are expected to come up with some delicious displays, a surprise show put up by a vehicle brought by a non-automobile brand plays the role of icing on the cake. One such brand is Motul, the French lubricant manufacturer. The French fellas brought the Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUVs to the MIAS, and the crowd just went crazy for the German cars. If Motul and some other brands are able to pull off such a show at the 2019 edition of MIAS, we sure are in for a treat.
Some hatch fun won’t hurt either
The younger batch of the Philippine population has quite a liking for the hatchbacks. The popularity of the likes of Kia Picanto, Mitsubishi Mirage, Chevrolet Spark, Toyota Wigo, and others is further a testament of the fact. Hyundai, though, has been resisting to present the Filipinos with the i30 N. At the 2019 MIAS, we hope for Hyundai to change its mind and heart and bring the hatch that we have been waiting for so long.
We just can’t have enough of the Suzuki Jimny
Suzuki Philippines might have finally brought the 2019 Jimny to the Philippines, however, the love for 4x4 is endless, and both current and potential buyers want their Jimnys to stand out. If anyone at Suzuki is reading this, we request you to present some modified versions of the crossover along with a few add-ons and accessories up for grabs. The Filipinos certainly won’t let you down, and both the parties will be benefited.
We hope that the Americans to give us a treat
There is a special liking for the made-in America cars in the Philippines, and that is evident by the success Jeep and Chevrolet has tasted in the country. The Filipinos were recently rewarded for their love as Jeep launched the 2019 Wrangler and also introduced the 2019 Cherokee. As the American automaker did not disclose the price of the Cherokee earlier, we expect the variants and their cost to be revealed at 2019 MIAS. What else we expect from Jeep is to display the off-road variant of the 2019 Wrangler. Jeep, are you listening? Please do it.
Then comes the other American automaker, Chevrolet. While we have already met with the fact that Chevy is indeed bringing the 2019 Camaro to the Philippines, we would love that to happen at the MIAS. The arrival of the Corvette, albeit only for a preview would be delightfully welcomed by the Filipinos. And guess what? Recent movements in the ASEAN automobile winds also suggest the arrival of the 2019 Captiva in the Philippines, and boy won’t it be great if that happens next week at the MIAS 2019.
Oh, wait! How could we miss Ford? The Ford Ranger that was launched last year has been making waves ever since and found many homes in the Philippines already. However, no matter how glad the pickup enthusiasts might be the SUV lovers are still waiting for the 2019 Ford Everest to make its way to the country. We’ll keep a keen eye on the Ford booth.
Electric is the future, but we want it now
It has been quite some time since Nissan announced that the Leaf will land on the Philippine shores in 2020. Not only that but the manufacturer has also shown interest in installing chargers at dealerships which further solidifies the fact that the Leaf is indeed coming. However, a preview up close at the Manila International Auto Show will not only give us an opportunity to admire the Leaf but also help Nissan in publicising the EV in the Philippines.
Large families need big vans
One manufacturer that has been making significant strides in the Philippines lately is Foton. The Chinese automaker has been growing like nothing and its trucks are liked by Filipinos quite a lot. However, what we would love for Foton to do is come up with its big vans in the Philippines. And not just Foton, we want the likes of JAC and GAZ to join the fleet and provide the Philippine population with some big, fat, and rugged vans.
Korea isn’t too far, bring us something, Kia
Kia, the South Korean automobile giant, had already announced the name of the next offering in the Philippines would start with an “S”. The 2019 MIAS would prove to be a great platform for the friend of Ayala to rope the car in the country. With the Sorento already in the Philippines, the next Kia car could well be either the Soul or the Stinger. We won’t mind even if Kia brings both of them together, would we?
There certainly are many more things which are going to make the 2019 Manila International Show a successful fest, however, summing up all that in a single article won’t do justice to them. And then there has to be a surprise element too, right? Hence, stay connect with Zigwheels Philippines for all the latest updates regarding the 2019 Manila International Auto Show and don’t miss any of the action that’s going to transpire at the event.
