The all-new Mazda3 makes world premiere at LA Motor Show

MANILA: Mazda3 has always enjoyed the reputation of being the auto brand’s best-seller worldwide. Naturally, when the Japanese auto brand decided to unveil the 2019 Mazda3 hatchback model at the Los Angeles Auto Show, it grabbed attention from far and wide. The vehicle features a more mature and sophisticated 'Kodo' look in addition to a fuel-efficient SkyActiv-X engine.

There is no word yet on engine specifications, but it is believed that a wide spectrum of options are available for the Mazda3. The ongoing hatchback Mazda 3 base model is powered by a 1.5-litre engine mated to a 6-speed SKYACTIV transmission system. The Mazda automaker is expected to consider SkyActiv-X, SkyActiv-G, or SkyActiv-D options for powering the all-new models. It is certain that diesel and gasoline-powered motors will be available initially. Also, the car is expected to sport the new SkyActiv-X powertrain in the latter half of 2019.

The 2019 Mazda3 features a more sculpted and aerodynamic shape now. The vehicle is underpinned by the new generation of Mazda SKYACTIV platform. The front fascia flaunts a massive front grille, distinct LED headlights, and low-slung front bumper. Both the Mazda 3 hatchback and the sedan feature minimalist but appealing external design elements compared to its predecessor. The rear portion of the hatchback sports an athletic appearance and the sedan with a new pair of tail lights portray a more conservative, stylish look.

On the inside, the occupants will now have more cosy seats with leather upholstery and trim. The three-spoke steering wheel and the centre console is redesigned. The dashboard houses the automatic climate control and bears minimalist design. It now houses a bigger 8.8-inch touchscreen digital display sitting at the top of the centre dashboard.

The all-new Mazda3 will hit the USA dealership, in early 2019. There is no word yet on when it will make its way to the Philippine auto market. Post-launch, the vehicle will give good competition to the all-new Ford Focus 2018.
