Toyota PH releases the all-new 2019 Camry without V6 configuration
MANILA: There is good news for the Camry lovers as well as a bad one. The good news is that the all-new Toyota Camry has finally made its way out to the middle and the sedan looks charming from the outset - it’s aggressive, energetic, and powerful. However, what’s disappointing is that the company has turned down the idea of bringing it with a V6 option.
The Toyota Camry is available only with the 2.5-litre engine that puts out 181 PS of max power at 6,000 rpm and 231 Nm of peak torque at 4,100 rpm. The reason for not bringing the V6 to the 2019 Camry is that the company feels the 2.5-litre engine is an ideal fit for the mid-size sedan considering the power and efficiency it yields. And for a V6-powered sedan, Toyota recommends Lexus ES350, which totally makes sense.
Considering the prices, the range-topping Camry 2.5 model retails at Php 1,992,000 whereas the Lexus ES 350 is priced at Php 4,308,000.
From the outside, the all-new Camry looks the best of its iterations ever produced. With the aggressive front fascia, swept-back headlamps, sweeping lines and nicely contoured shoulders, this mid-size sedan sit at the top amongst the competition in terms of design. Adding more to its aesthetic appeal are the 18-inch classy alloy wheels.
Inside, the 2019 Camry gets dark cabin look, which amplifies with the presence of faux-wood trim. The dash gets a flowing design, the steering wheel is solid to hold and manage with controls mounted on it and a touchscreen infotainment system for your entertainment and navigation needs.
Besides this, the new Camry also does not have a hybrid option. In fact, Toyota PH is considering to launch the hybrid in the domestic market but the norms and taxes have forced them to think otherwise. Though the excise tax on hybrid vehicles has been reduced by 50% by the government, it is still not enough for the manufacturers to offer hybrid vehicles at an attractive price to the customers.
Moreover, for Toyota, it is not just about producing environment-friendly vehicles instead they’d like to educate buyers on what it takes to build a hybrid along with benefits such conveyance brings to the table. So, let’s see if they can get things to sort out in the coming months regarding hybrid Camry. Till then, stay tuned with us as we bring the latest happenings from the automotive world to you in the most authentic manner possible.
