Toyota Prius Launched At PIMS 2016
MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines has finally launched the fourth-generation of Prius at the 6th Philippine International Motor Show. Toyota has continue to follow hip styling and free-flowing design for the updated Prius with minor tweaks at the front and rear. The new Prius is the first vehicle in the brand’s lineup which follows the Toyota New Global Architecture or TNGA platform. Through this platform, Prius has a lower center of gravity and increased structural rigidity. Considering the Torsional rigidity, it is improved by up to 60 percent compared to the previous model. In addition to this a double wishbone suspension further helps in improving the handling.
It is not only the all-new platform, which is the center of attraction for Prius but, an updated power mill as well, which has a maximum thermal efficiency of 40% and is more compact and lightweight. The 1.8-litre engine combined with electric motor delivers a combined power output of 121 hp and peak torque of 142 Nm. The Prius is also equipped with nickel-metal hydride batteries, which Toyota claims to charge faster.
Considering the safety features, the updated Prius features dual front airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Force Distribution System (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Parking sensors, rear view camera, Anti-Theft Alarm, Engine Immobilizer, Traction Control. The car will be at Toyota’s booth till 18th September and till then stay tuned to CarBay for all the updates related to PIMS 2016.
