World Premieres Take the First Seat at the Beijing Auto Show            

MANILA: The hangover is yet not over of easily the biggest auto trade show, MIAS 2016 and to continue this excitement, the 2016 Beijing International Automotive Show has begun on Monday and will run through May 4. This 10-day affair is the leading auto show in China and held bi-annually in the capital.

This year's exhibition is definitely going to set trends for the auto industry, as already the world gets to witness more than 1,600 exhibitors from 14 countries, their major launches, debuts along with the world-premiere of few much-anticipated four-wheeled drives.

Honda Avancier and Acura CDX

The auto show is crowded with the automakers showcasing their new generation luxurious SUVs to battle for the country's prospective buyers. Honda Motor Co. also held world debuts for two of its SUVs, Honda Acura CDX compact SUV and Avancier to reflect country's high profile in the world of auto industry.

Both the models will be produced locally at the ZengCheng manufacturing plant in the country. Following the steps of Acura, CDX also promises to come with sharp styling looks along with the latest and innovative technologies. Both the vehicles brings the Honda-first in the country by being the only model with the 1.5-litre and 2.0-litre turbocharged engines respectively. While the Acura CDX will be in the market in July 2016, the Avancier will be on sale at the end of the year.

2017 Nissan Kicks Crossover

 

First unveiled as the concept model, 2017 Nissan Kicks has faced the world in its production model at the 2016 Beijing Auto show. While the progression from the concept to production witnesses few exterior tweaks like a slightly raised bonnet, redesigned bumpers, and large side mirrors, the rest of the body retains its design from the concept form. Powered by the Micra's 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine, Nissan Kicks will serve as the official car of 2016 Rio Olympics.

Porsche 718 Cayman

Following the Boxster, now it's time for the Cayman to be badged as a 718. While the styling modifications are minimal to the all-new 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman, two new turbocharged flat-four engines will be placed underneath just like 718 Boxster. This all-new Cayman appeared with the restyled bumper new headlights with darker highlights.

Mazda CX-4 Crossover

This new China-only model has finally made its debut at the 2016 Beijing Auto show. The new Mazda crossover has taken its styling cues from the CX-5 and also from its original concept which was presented at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. At the forefront, Mazda's signature grille and tapered LED headlights have been incorporated in the CX-4 along with the jaunty roofline. The CX-4 has been bestowed with two engine options, 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G placed in the FWD variant and a bigger 2.5-litre SkyActive-G powering the AWD variant.

As it is the China-only model for now, we are not certain when it will surface other markets along with the Philippine Auto market.
