JMC N820 Interior & Features
The JMC N820 has a very different-looking dashboard, the design of which feels very car-like. While there are not many new-age features on board, the cabin exhibits superior fit and finish levels and layout which makes it look much better than other trucks priced similarly to it.
The JMC N820 has a dual-tone black and beige upholstery, with its driver’s cockpit having a two-spoke steering wheel. The instrument console behind this steering wheel has an all-analogue instrument console, in which the analogue dials have silver surrounds. The centre console looks wide with its trapezoidal design and is finished in a theme of black, which adds a contrast to the otherwise beige-coloured dashboard.
The centre console of the JMC N820 accommodates a 1-DIN music system and an open storage cavity below it. The dashboard gets an additional bigger storage cavity above the music system, with vertical AC vents placed beside it. The lower centre console of the dashboard of the JMC N820 has manual controls for the air conditioner and a 12V power socket.
N820 Exterior
While the overall exterior appearance of the JMC N820 is not out-of-the-box, it still has a pleasant look which makes it one of the most decent-looking trucks in its category. The overall design of the JMC N820 has a conventional theme with a boxy look, much like any other light-duty or medium-duty truck on sale.
The JMC N820 has a large windshield covering the upper half of its front profile, which has rounded edges at the top and curved edges at the bottom. The lower corners of the front windscreen get mounts for the stretched rearview mirrors. The lower half of the front fascia of the JMC N820 has a three-slat grille with horizontally laid slats stacked one over the other.
The lower side edges of the front profile have trapezoidal-shaped halogen headlamps with tapered upper edges and rounded lower edges. These headlamps are partitioned into three segments. While the upper housings have turn indicators, the lower housings have clear lens auxiliary headlights. In the middle of these lights, there are modern projectors for the main headlights. In addition to these lights, there are small fog lamps positioned on the corners of the slim-looking black-coloured front bumper.
The side profile of the JMC N820 looks simplistic with a large side window panel, which has a tapering-up waistline. The door panels of the JMC N820 look plain and have vertically laid door handles, while also having unique-looking clear-lens triangular turn indicators on their lower edges.
JMC N820 Ride & Handling
The JMC N820 is bestowed with basic and heavy-duty leaf springs at both front and rear, which are capable enough to enable this light-duty truck to carry heavy loads with ease. However, the ride quality is harsh and bouncy.
N820 Engine & Fuel Consumption
Powering the JMC N820 is a 2.9-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that churns out a maximum power output of 150 bhp and a maximum torque output of 382 Nm. Paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox, this 2.9-litre diesel engine makes the JMC N820 one of the most powerful light-duty trucks available in the Philippines.
JMC N820 Braking & Safety
The only noteworthy new-age essential safety feature offered in the JMC N820 is ABS, with the truck also having seat belts for the cabin occupants.
N820 Verdict
The modern car-like and good-looking cabin of the JMC N820 feels unique among all the other light-duty trucks, with it also having a decent exterior appearance. Besides its visual appeal, it impresses as a proper laud carrier with excellent load-carrying capabilities. However, like most Chinese commercial vehicles, the JMC N820 also suffers from quality issues and limited after-sales service experience.
