JMC JMH

The cabin layout of the JMC JMH also has a very functional and basic approach in the design, with several square-shaped elements spread across the dashboard. The all-grey cabin theme for the JMH makes the interior look even more basic and low-rent, with the panels exhibiting below-average fit and finish levels.

The driver’s cockpit of the JMC JMH has a two-spoke steering wheel with a three-dial analogue instrument console behind it. This instrument console sits within a rounded rectangular-shaped binnacle, which is accompanied by a square-shaped centre console, which is also a part of the silver-themed cockpit behind the steering wheel.

Slightly tilted towards the driver's side, this square-shaped centre console has physical buttons for the 1-DIN audio system in the middle, rectangular AC vents above it and manual switches for the air conditioning system below it. The co-passenger side of the dashboard, which looks like a different entity, has square-themed AC vents and a cover for the glove box below the AC vents. 

Going by its appearance, the JMC JMH has a very modest and functional design which stays true to its purpose. The overall design of the JMC JMH looks very conventional and boxy and doesn’t create any new benchmark. 

At the front, the JMC JMH has a raked windscreen covering the upper part of the front profile, with a wide trapezoidal black garnish panel below it. This black panel serves as the mount for the windshield wipers as well as for the curved stalks of the rearview mirrors. 

The lower half of the front profile looks very simplistic with a sleek trapezoidal grille in the middle, which features a honeycomb mesh pattern within it. This grille sits within another trapezoidal housing, which has trapezoidal headlamps placed beside it. These angular headlamp clusters have all halogen bulbs for the main headlight and turn indicators. The front bumper at the bottom is also body-coloured and gets functional halogen fog lamps placed on the corners. 

The side door panels of the driver’s cabin of the JMC JMH also have a functional design with an angular window waistline, with the door panels having square-shaped, blacked-out door handles. The 15-inch steel wheels of the JMC JMH are also blacked-out, and the cabin of the JMH is tiltable too. 

The JMC JMH measures 4735mm long, 1690mm wide and 1980mm tall while having a wheelbase of 2490mm. This light-duty commercial vehicle from JMC has a kerb weight of 3865 kg and has a leaf spring setup at both ends for suspension, which gives it a sturdy load-carrying capacity but a stiff ride quality on softer tarmacs. The JMC JMH has 650/R15 tyres over its 15-inch steel wheels. 

The engine powering the JMC JMH which is on sale in the Philippines is a 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which is paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. This engine churns out decent performance outputs – 77 bhp of maximum power output and 172 Nm of maximum torque output. For an engine of its size, these performance figures are a bit modest and could have been better.

Being a utilitarian commercial vehicle, the JMC JMH misses out on sophisticated safety features but does get a height-adjustable collapsible steering wheel and seat belts for both the occupants in the driver’s cabin. 

While the JMC JMH might not have the image of being a hassle-free and reliable light-duty truck as some of its Japanese competitors, this Chinese truck offers decent load-carrying capacity and tractability from its diesel engine.
